Firefly Movie Gets The Green Light
An anonymous reader writes "According to FireflyFans.net and Ain't It Cool News, Universal has greenlit production of 'Serenity,' the motion picture based on Joss Whedon's cancelled TV series 'Firefly.' Both sites point to an article from Variety that says the film will start production in June, and be ready for release in 2005." The informative Whedonesque weblog is also monitoring developments regarding this much-deserved resurrection.
I am sorry ..i am an odl school sci fi lover. But this hsow was as bad a s Zena , Hercules, Angel and the like.They were all glorified soap operas. It was painful to watch it..I for one am glad it was canceled

Firefly was a fucking abortion! I'd never seen a more unrealistic scifi show in my life. Yeah... like a rag tag team like that could actually survive space. I'm sorry, but in order to make it through the rigors of space, you need intellect, teamwork and a complete dedication to science. This is why shows like Star Trek the Next Generation and Voyager painted the most realistic and desirable goal for mankind. This is why it is essential that we, as a society, strive to eliminate greed and selfishness from our species. Only without these flaws will we be able to realize a future worth looking forward to. The last thing we need is trite "ass kicking" crap like Firefly. Movies like this only serve to damage us socially and lead us into believing that there is something special about us as individuals. This is the wrong message to be sending out. Instead we should be working at eliminating individuality and replacing it with cooperation so that we work collectively, while retaining emotions so as to not lose that human edge. I just hate how we encourage stupidity and violence instead of intelligence, culture and science. Back in the 50s when this country was run by scientists, we were better off. If only we had scientists taking over the the government and business of the United States. It would be an intellectual and academic revolution. We could once again restore this country back to what it should be and strive for the day wehn Starfleet could be real.
Its like the statement that gets around accasionaly that not that many jews died in the holocaust, You cant SAY it even if it is true. You cant say that Jesus wasn't the son of God and you cant say that Michael Jackson is a child molester. And by the way, you moderator was jewish.
Whedon just didnt have the inside info to offer them a blockbuster of a first show , then get a killer contract for 1 + 1 + 1 seasons signed and sealed. As a true artist he did what he wanted regardless of the selling power and I really respect him for that. I bet he learnt from that and the movie will be a big seller. (with better mandorin to boot)
