Howard Vanbel writes "Apparently the developers of GnomeMeeting have released the final v1.0 version of the videoconferencing/VoIP software. GnomeMeeting started as a final studies work at the Department of Computing Science and Engineering of the Universite Catholique de Louvain and after 3 years of development, GnomeMeeting 1.00 is ready! I'll wait for GnomeMeeting 2.0: ModelMeeting.

seriously, when do people realize, that the underlying technology should NOT be reflected in the name?

The future of GNOME can be read here. If there is one with all the internal problems nobody is willing to continue working on it (besides the paid members from Wipro, SUN, Red Hat, Ximian (Novell). Sure this comment (link) below (and all following ones) are nothing that should belong there in first place but when people start cutting my replies from gnomedesktop.org and post them on /. only to embrace me as person then I think it's about time telling people why new people should not participate to GNOME ?

In all the years I have seen people being embraced, treated ugly, were slandered etc. Well if you want to know more read the link below. I know Eugenia may delete this comment of mine and I do think she may be right in doing so since she doesn't know what's really going on but take your chances (as long it lasts) to understand some internals.

This is nothing to blame the project GNOME as is since GNOME as project is a nice one. And the majority of people are fine persons too but there are a handful of people who makes the GNOME experience become a worse one. A lot of people have left the community because of the way they got treated by selfish people.

Make sure you read the link below and the following ones where I also gave some replies. And note, the initial comments were written by me as well but initially NOT meant for /. they were meant for gnomedesktop.org where I have post them. People want to embrace me, I embrace them.

IIRC, the plan was to switch to the Opal engine for GnomeMeeting 1.1 which gets you SIP support.
