Godzilla To Retire (for now)

ackthpt writes "CNN is reporting that Toho, after 50 years and 28 films, will be retiring Godzilla (Gojira in Japan) after this years film. Toho has thought of retiring the venerable monster before, but after pulling the stops to make a special Best of Best this may be it (but you never know, particularly if it draws large audiences)"

I believe it was time for the Jap's to let this go. To me as a foreigner to Japanese amusement (Godzilla), I see the entire concept to be utterly ridiculous and im surprised of the primitiveness of the people that liked the movies. I remember when the Godzilla (with P.Diddy background music) came out in North America. I knew it was going to be a horrible movie and did not have the excitement to spend $10 in the theatres and waste 2 hours of my time on the movie.

I'm uncertain where the interests ever was in the Godzilla movies.

I find them bores as the old Star Trek series, can anyone truely say they admired Captain Kirk?

Isn't it always the case that stupid looking American robots (such as Al Gore) lose? I'll miss the big green guy.
