Peter Jackson Says "Hobbit" Movie In The Works
Patik writes "'Lord of the Rings' Director Peter Jackson is planning to film 'The Hobbit,' according to this Associated Press article. Jackson, who is currently filming 'King Kong', is waiting for New Line and MGM, the two studios with rights to the film, to battle it out for rights to make the prequel. Jackson also mentions wanting the movie to feel just like the LOTR trilogy, including having Ian McKellen return as Gandalf." (This is better than just hinting.)
RTFCredits, douchebag.
The Hobbit was a children's book and not a very good one IMO. The only way it can be made for the LoTR audience is if it a massive rewrite, even further so than the LoTR trilogy.
The movements were off? You do realize that they were mocapped from an actual actor (smeagol, before he became gollum, in ROTK was the actual actor that played gollum's movements). Essentially you're saying a human actor wasn't fluid enough for real acting... Which makes no sense. Perhaps you're a moron?
Yeah, I'm sure a real actor scampered down a vertical rockface head first, jumped through the air with a rope around his neck only to have it jerked back violently before being slammed to the ground, and caught an actual fish in a stream using his bare hands, as well as actually plunging into a raging torrent of lava holding a magic ring. You fucking idiot.
In addition to which, motion capture is very coarse and doesn't capture muscle movement, skin movement, small changes in particular parts of the body, hair, etc. Furthermore, a human actor would have different weight distribution to a wiry, twisted, living skeleton-monster.
Read Pynchon.
"and caught an actual fish in a stream using his bare hand"
Actually, watch the dvd's and you will see that andy serkis DID crawl through a stream chasing an imaginary fish. YOU fucking idiot.
I can't help but think that he is risking ruining his great work with the Lord of the Rings series by pushing it too far. I haven't personally read The Hobbit, but from what I've heard it isn't nearly as exciting as the Lord of the Rings series. I just hope Peter Jackson doesn't get to full of himself and pop out a Phantom Menace.
Trolls? Just hire some of the Anonymous Cowards following me around. They'll do plenty well. :D
He who laughs last is stuck in a time dilation bubble.
Yes, both are
Uh, that is what you meant by the comparison, right?
Opinions on the Twiddler2 hand-held keyboard?
Well why don't you come and put your big fat cock in my mouth. I'm sure that would shut me up.
