Open Source Medical Billing Software

tr0tt3r writes "There is a thriving community of people who are devoted to using Free and Open Source Software to run Medical Practices. While there are many projects that are capable of tracking patient data and scheduling functions, there has been no way to run a Doctors office using GPL software because there was no GPL Medical Billing. This is mostly due to the difficulty of handling HCFA 1500 alongside EDI formats like X12.Recently several different projects have banded together to create FreeB the first GPL medical billing system."

Can someone tell me what is the origin of this arbitrary word linking I'm seeing used on slashdot ?

Recently several different projects have banded together...

Not only does it make the "related links" tab meaningless (I mean what the hell are these supposed to mean : Related Links: community Medical Billing Recently several different projects FreeB) but is absolutely inane, kind of like trying to force fit words in a description to make the acronym sound interesting (PATRIOT Act).

    What is wrong with

Recently several different projects ( Project 1, Project 2, Project 3, ...) have banded together...

Just curious. Maybe we wouldn't slashdot so many sites if the links were named properly.

Yesterday, there were 20 accepted stories. It would be nearly impossible to edit all of those stories up the the standards required by a professional website. If you figure 20 minutes a story, that's over six hours of work, every single day!. Combined with school and a job and a social life, that's too much to expect from one one guy running a hobby website out of his dorm room in his spare time.
