Can Counter-Strike Players Be Summed Up By Nation?

Thanks to GotFrag for its article discussing whether players from different countries are good at different aspects of online FPS Counter-Strike. The writer tries to claim: "Some countries, most of which are the leading ones in Counter-Strike, have certain specialities. This often means that the players in this country will have a 'special touch' in this area." Among the supposed conclusions are that Americans excel at "shooting [and] logistics", whereas Germans are best at "thinking [and] teamwork", and the French come off best when using "reflexes". How seriously can we take such broad conclusions?

    The French rate of losses for the short time they were in the war under their own control were similar to their rate of losses in the great war. Far higher than that of the British or Americans.

    Has the Slashdot editors gone on a vacation. It seems that more and more of these idiotic articles are being posted on Slashdot. Germans are better at teamwork? Americans better at shooting? Nobody can tell what nationality they are playing against unless it is posted, or a clan that they know is in a different country. I was expecting the article to say something stupid like "Teams don't like to have black people in them, because they slow the whole team down," or "You can tell when you are playing against Jews, because they are using handguns and saving their money for better weapons someday." On the brink of the dreaded "racism," the article almost is. Lastly, the FRENCH has better reflexes than other players? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH A x 10

      But that is a really good point, I feel you deserve a +1 Insightful for that, pity that it will be lost in the rest of that mess.
