Viacom and DishNetwork Battle On Air Over Contract
An anonymous reader writes "This weekend, Viacom stations began scrolling messages on their cable stations(MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, etc) stating that DishNetwork may soon be removing the channels from its lineup and urging subscribers to call DishNetwork. DishNetwork subscribers(me!) may have begun to see black bars cover the messages and calls to DishNetwork regarding the messages were greeted with a recording telling subscribers to call the President and GM of KCBS. These antics stem from lawsuits here. I, for one, will be switching to DirecTV if they don't get this figured out."

(not first)
And this is relevant because....?
I've got cable and I still have to watch those lame messages scroll by too. Just another reason to whip out my Firefly DVDs again...
what IS going on with the USA these days:
...I am sure I have missed some out in Central America...What is going on?
We have the USA involved all over the place...:
- Restructuring in Iraq
- Afghanistani and Pakistani action
- Overthrowing Venezualan government
- Fiddling about in Argentina
- Mercenaries in Zimbabwe
- Deals with Libya
- Ongoing Israeli Support
All the more reason not to go wireless.

Who would ever subscribe to Dishnet? DirecTV rules! Seriously, I've seen both, and DirecTV won hands down! I noticed the bars at the bottom of the screen scolling that message and wonder, is this the END of Dish? Good old Charlie's going to have a hard time competing at all with Dave if they lose some of their BEST channels!

Anyone else notice that whenever a popular site links to a Yahoo News story, Yahoo News hits the floor for several hours?
Yes.
"Overthrowing Venezualan government"
Didn't work. Venezuela is still ruled by a fascist dictator.
I, for one, will be switching to DirecTV if they don't get this figured out.
I, for one, will be sticking to good old books. At least book writers and editors don't throw their petty commercial wars at me through their products, and even if they did, I could just tear off the page.
Books are so exciting : you get to imagine the scenes yourself, you can re-read them whenever you want wherever your want, they burn no electrical power (save for the light at night), the information medium has been the same for thousands of years, is reliable, isn't likely to change soon, unlike Betamax/VHS/Videodisc/DVD, and the whole reading home-theater installation (called a "bookshelf") is dirt cheap. I'm so glad I haven't had a TV for 10 years, I really feel less like a passive consumer drone...

I'm happy with Comcast Cable. I keep all of my channels.

Actually, DirecTV does a pretty good job with theirs. I ordered some pay-per-view (for the family) - the box was showing it no more than 15 (think it was like 3 - can't be sure) seconds after I told it to do it online. Same for channel adding removing etc.
