Linus on Linux in 1994
Vrallis writes "Ten years ago this month, Linux Journal christened their maiden issue with an interview with Linus Torvalds. It is definitely worth the read, and worth some reflection on just how far Linux has come in the last decade."

Are the "penis in vacuum cleaner" stories true?
I work on a government installation.
We have multiple T3 connections.
There were 11 comments on this story. It's minutes old.
And I don't get to read the article, because you people are like the Borg.
Both are typical geekazoid terms meaning nothing to the bread-earning life-loving SLIM, HEALTHY, good-looking male. and they mean the same to all females.
lol....
10 years ago I was using windows 3.11, an ugly single-user preemptive operating system without memory protection. And in 10 years a lot has been added. True 32-bits, networking, Now we have XP, multiprocess, multiprocessor, with loads added like multimedia support, a decent windowing system, etc.
Linux had some parts 10 years ago, like 32-bit, networking, virtual memory. But back then it was a UNIX-like kernel with processes, device drivers, file IO and sockets. Now it's a UNIX-like kernel with processes, modular device drivers, file IO, sockets and multiCPU support.
Apart from endless replacing of parts, it's basically still the same OS without progress. The only things that changed were different filesystems, removal of harddisk size limits, multiCPU support, and nothing more really.
In 10 years from now Linux will still be a UNIX-like kernel with file IO and berkeley sockets. Nothing more.

95% of the world will still be using brand name, proprietary software that they know works, will be supported, that is the same as what all of their famliy, friends, and business partners use, and they will know that they will not be sued for being thieves by using it.
Also guarenteed 10 years from now, is that there will be a bunch of carbon-copy-wannabe software knockoffs that a small percentage of unpopular nerds will insist on using to avoid paying for the real stuff.
How well are you dealing with this inevitbality?
michael rides the boom.
If by boom you mean cucumber.
And by cucumber you mean thick black cock.
He was able to create a new religion with zealots far more mindlessly fanatical than any other religion in history.
Quite impressive actually.
I WANT TO PEE ON YOU!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAAA
Lameness filter encountered. Post aborted!
Reason: Don't use so many caps. It's like YELLING.
Don't care, am a happy Mac coolaid drinker and don't see the point of switching to a platform that is even more arcane than Windows. 99% of all articles going along the lines of "how the fsck am I supposed to do this or connect that" are total non-issues to me - although I do have a 3-button mouse-thingy ...
But I love the effort of moving all those cute K-programs natively to OS X... and love the GPL/BSD movement, very cool, good luck and congrats on having such a great community.
I think, therefore I am...I think.
In 2014, Linux will outweigh the human race. Have you seen that guy lately? He may be the father of our kernel, but he looks like he's literally going to give birth to it.
I'll bet you're a riot at parties, what with your acute sense of humour and all.

Remember, France is the country that planted trees along it's boulevards when it realized that Germans preferred to march in the shade....
