Linux Sourcecode To Minitar Access Point
mcbridematt writes "Minitar sells a rebadged Edimax Linux based-802.11b Access Point in Australia (no FCC ID yet) for a relatively cheap price (under AUS $100 in places). These access points are based around the Realtek 8181 wireless-system-on-chip design, have 8MB flash rom, and run a 2.4 series Linux kernel. After requests from the community to get the kernel sources, which resulted in a incomplete sourcecode release, we finally have (allegedly) complete and GPL compliant Linux kernel sources for this fine Access Point. Special thanks to chuna, serialmonkey and screwball at Minitar for making this happen, especially after they ran into arguments with their OEM and Realtek over this." From the attached forum discussion, you can see there's disagreement about whether the source code release is as complete as it should be.
frost piss!

I think I hear the rusty gears of the change machine.... They are creaking and grinding... are they starting to move?
god I hope so.
lets all keep our fingers crossed that we see a lot more stories like this in the near future.
Obama is a twitter sock puppet
That was supposed to be anonymous :( I take it back!
I'm sorry mister! I was just all giddy cause I got first post (see "frost piss!", below) and wanted to partake in other slashdot activities.
Oh darn, the truth is there.
With members such as chuna, serialmonkey and screwball, who needs lawyers anyway?
Here's an idea. Unleash them onto SCO. This could only result in comedy.
Minitar, you've got 5 letters in common with Minitel. Mobilix got sued because it had 5 in common with Obelix.
boo nigga, boo
note to self: Why do I always bugger up when I submit a story to Slashdot? (last time, when I submitted the Jazilla Milestone 1 story, I used incorrect English).
Now, shut up before my Realtek cards (4 in all) turn on me...
I just heard some sad news on talk radio - Horror/Sci Fi writer Stephen King was found dead in his Maine home this morning. There weren't any more details. I'm sure everyone in the Slashdot community will miss him - even if you didn't enjoy his work, there's no denying his contributions to popular culture. Truly an American icon.
No, not everything under the Sun, just everything under the GPL, unless, of course, the Sun is running GPLed software.
Or Java, ok, bad example.
KFG
Thank you for playing, we have some lovely parting gifts for you.
All contestants will receive a copy of the Slashdot(TM) home game, where you can compete for first post against your friends and family.

Remember, kids, when you want half-baked insight and rampant zealotry, it's Slashdot(TM) all the way. Gooooooooooo Slashdot(TM)!
This is the most boring /. article I've read in a long time. Thought I would submit a nice boring post to complement it. Seriously, who is going to hack an access point in their spare time? I'll tell you who: a really boring person, that's who.
You have the WRONG last name to be in this business man ;)
