Please don't tell me your talking about this screenshot. That thing is more horrid than the QT file selector.

    You probably meant s/litigious/contentious/

Until now, Gnome's been doing an excellent job distracting everyone from this contentious issue by creating an even larger issue by fucking up the application button order. Now that they don't need to distract people anymore, I hope they revert back to the logical LTR order that pre-dates the great Mac UI mistake.

Nope the GIMP will still be butt ugly
Photoshop user still wont want to use it.
Zealots will keep saying the GIMP it is just as good as Photoshop even though it clearly isn't
(it may be "good enough" for many people but that is something else entirely)

Pretty much. People obsessed with the whole communist manifesto, woops, I mean GNU thing are sticking to Linux, but for those of us who simply want the most advanced operating system available today to actually get work done, OS X is it. It has a better GUI, more apps, is written and maintained by an American company that employs professional, American, programmers. You can stick to your hobbyist OS all you want, just be sure to get out of the way of those of us with work to do.

GTK finally starting to fix the file dialog is sort of like Microsoft starting to fix its security problems... too little, too late... but the long afflicted faithful hail it as a great triumph and step forward.

How to make a Java application look good:
Launch something that uses GTK for Windows.

GTK 2.4 hasn't changed all that much. :( And the new file selctor is still a mess and does not recognize even half as many protocols as KDE's. GTK really is the crud-err cream of the open source crop.
