phalse phace writes "According to Cartoon Network, Season 2 of Star Wars: Clone Wars, the epic micro-series, is going to premiere tonight at 9:30 PM (E/P)."
I didn't see much of the first season. What's the consensus from the/. gang? Good or bad inrepretation of the Star Wars Universe?
I'll probably end up picking the set up on DVD when they release it.
Oh, wait...

I very much disliked the series. There is very little that seems to happen in each episode, of course, they're only 5 minutes long. Plus, I'm not a big fan of the animation at all. While I love Samurai Jack, I don't think this particular style suits Star Wars at all, and it doesn't seem to do justice to the Star Wars legacy in my eyes. Then again, neither did Episodes I and II. And the more I watch Clone Wars, the less I like it... I'm starting to get disappointed with Star Wars. I know they can do better.

Clone Wars had at least one extended, cool-looking space battle, something the last two movies have been somewhat lackluster in, IMHO. And never once did it grievously insult my intelligence, as the last two movies, sadly, have done.
So I will buy it when it comes out on DVD for those reasons alone, because there is a small part of me that still wants to like Star Wars despite the many disappointing things done to the franchise since 1999.

I've got to say, since Episode 1 and 2's massive failure in the eyes of many geeks, and most of the press (despite my love of both movies), the press surrounding the Clone Wars and the opinions I've heard have been tremendous, to say the least. IMO, the quality of animation is superb, Samurai Jack style, and it's just real Star Wars fun to watch. Also, one simply MUST love the new dark Jedi in the fight against all those monsters.
I have to say of the few episodes of Clone Wars I've seen I didn't think much of it. The animation I'm not really concerned about but I'm guessing they did it to save money rather tha any artistic reason. But my biggest problem with with the actual content. I wasn't excited by their action sequences, nor could I care about the characters or feel their emotion, in general I just couldn't find any of it mildly interesting. Perhaps you were able to get something out of them and I'm glad for it but for me it fealt like episodes 1&2 without the good action sequences and with somewhat worse writing. Maybe they improved later on and maybe some people do really enjoy them but from what I saw I wasn't impressed.

Well, no slam intended to Clone Wars, it's great stuff, but these episodes are like 3 minutes long apiece and have very little dialogue; some have none whatsoever. A good majority of them are just 3-minute fight scenes. I think comparing them to the movies (lacking as I will admit the prequels are in the writing dept.) is kind of apples and oranges.

Hey, mods, be fair! The post isn't quite on topic, but it isn't off topic to the point that "Stephen King, dead at the age of whatever..." or "BSD is dead...", etc. is! We're talking geek-related TV that's on tonight and this guy is hyping his show, which has been mentioned on/. before.
Jonas, thanks! I almost forgot about Game Over... I'm going to set my TiVO right now (then my wife and I are off to dinner).

I have a serious question (or poll really): Who likes Jar Jar? Is there a segment that is drawn in to him? Does this segment also like Ewoks?
I'll say this much about him. I don't dislike him, and I really really really like it when Quai-Gon grabs his tongue and says "Don't". I really wish Sebulba would have just kicked his ass, 'cause he's a mutherfucker who needs a fuckin' stompin' on.
But other than that, I don't dislike him, and I think he adds something to the movie that wouldn't have been there without him, since all the other characters were dry, boring, and very very weak (except Quai-gon and obi-wan in the Phantom Menace, but Obi-Wan has gone straight to hell since then).
And yes, as a matter of fact, I love Ewoks. I like to throw 'em on the smoker, still kicking, and skin 'em when they're still only half-cooked. Then you wrap 'em in foil (they're usually unconscious by now, but if not you can still wrap 'em) and start tanning the skin. You wind up with a helluva meal and a really sweet leather jacket out of it.
