25th Anniversary Of Three Mile Island

fbform writes "March 28, 2004 is the 25th anniversary of the Loss Of Coolant Accident (LOCA) at the nuclear power plant on Three Mile Island, Pennsylvania. It's a good time to reflect on the impact it has had on our nuclear safety policy and interface design in general."

    they can't blow up in a chain reaction.
    if the cooling or anything breaks down,
    the reactor just stops (with a few damage, sure, but nothing dangerous)
    the materials aren't highly radioactive and the reactor chamber materials are at ambient radioactivity level after 30 years (not 30 billion years or so as for fission reactor plants)
