Xbox Price Drop To $149 Now Official

bpitzer writes "It's official - Microsoft is cutting the price on the Xbox to $149, effective tomorrow, according to CNET News. Now, will Sony follow suit on the PS2? And how long until the next price drop? Maybe at this year's E3, making three in a row?" We previously reported on rumors to this effect, and other readers point to the official Microsoft press release, sporting a quote from noted tech analyst P.Diddy: "[I] believe that the system's cultural influence as a social entertainment brand has only just begun."

    ...the phrase "jumped the shark" has officially jumped the shark once it appears on Slashdot?

      Actually, "jumped the shark" has jumped the shark because it was on national television (NBC Dateline) last night.

    no doubt.

    most catchy lingo is a single word. "Jump the Shark"....it just sounds gay.

    I don't know anyone, firsthand, to use that phrase.

    I think I heard 3 people, on TV, use it. They were publicly beaten.

    I just bought an Edsel with fins and white wash tires and it's SO cheap! Can't wait to show off this baby to all the chicks in town. Boy, am I cool for having something this modern and fast or what?

    Anyone want to buy a Delorian? It only has 50 'flux capacitor' years on it. ;p
