Chipset Integrates Gigabit Ethernet, RAID, Firewall
EconolineCrush writes "Tech Report has a review of NVIDIA's latest Athlon 64 chipset, the nForce3 250Gb. The 250Gb is especially interesting because it's the first core logic chipset to integrate a Gigabit Ethernet MAC, hardware-accelerated firewall, and RAID across four Serial ATA and four "parallel" ATA devices. NVIDIA is even working with third party developers to help their software take advantage of the chipset's hardware firewall components. Looks like we've reached a point where chipsets will differentiate on features more than performance."

I am a morbidly obese (5'8", 415 lbs., 24 y.o.) blob, and have been very fat since birth. My dieting history is extensive with the most common result being to quit the first day. There are 6 or 7 times that I lost 50+ lbs. and gained them back rapidly after quitting. I need an immediate change before I die, become violently ill, or become immobile. I have amazingly avoided any serious illness to this point, barring my mental illness toward food. I am sure that diabetes and heart disease are right around the corner.
My lifestyle is sendentary. I sit on my ass programming all day at work. I bowl league 4 nights a week, but that is hardly high impact excercise. I am guessing that I am about 20 lbs away from a most dreadful problem of not being able to thoroughly wipe my own fat ass. Sorry for being so graphic, but it really scares me how far I've let myself go. I weighed about 270 lbs at the end of Jr. High, 330 lbs at the end of high school, and 380 at the end of college.
My eating habits are amazing. It is hard for me to type them out, because it is disgusting how much I can eat in a day and how expensive it is. I literally have no food or drink in my apartment. I eat out for every meal. A common meal for me is going to Wendy's and ordering a #2 (1/2 lb Double cheeseburger) Biggie size with fries and a coke AND 3 orders of Chicken Nuggets with a Large frosty. At 7-11, I will often get an entire box of Lorna Doone cookies, a quart of chocolate milk, a large bottle of gatorade, a king size snickers, and 3 taquitos all for one sitting. I have eaten the Meatloaf meal for 3 from Boston Market by myself on a couple occassions. Lately, it's been rock bottom. I probably eat myself sick 3 times a week.
I am openly laughed at or jeered in public at least once a day now, get teased by co-workers, and beat myself up every night. Surely this would be enough motivation for anyone to drastically change his lifestyle. If not there is also the issue that I wake up short of breath sometimes, I get a sore back if I stand too long, and my right leg gets tired if I drive too far. I have trouble buckling the seat belt in most car models, I can't fit into booths at many restaurants, and I am close to maxxing out on the sizes at the Big & tall store.
Despite my weight, I have normally been fairly happy in life but lately I am miserable and my weight consumes me. It has led to paranoia, fear of social situations, and remarkable physical discomfort.
My most recent "success" in dieting was with Atkins. I lost about 70 lbs but it came back in a hurry when I digressed.
I would appreciate any advice on a good program (Weight watchers points, Atkins, food pyramid) for someone as huge and hopeless as me. I believe that anything works as long as you stick to it, but I am sure some programs are better than others. I also want to start exercising regularly. Maybe walking is a good place to start? I appreciate any suggestions.
I might set up a web site to track my progress and anyone else's who wants to change their eating and exercise habits.
I am used to ridicule, so proceed as you will. But if you have any candid and honest advice, I will appreciate it. I'm going to try to start living again tomorrow.
here's an idea for high end digital SLRs: camera makers should make SLR bodies with user replaceable/upgradeable CCD/CMOS image sensors. A sensor module would contain the actual CCD/CMOS array along with an intergerated control chip that would provide the camera body with information about the sensor itself and the actual image data. The user can open up the camera as if he or she was loading traditional film in the back of a film camera and upgrade to a higher megapixel image sensor or switch between various sensor technologies(ie. CCD, CMOS). since professional digital cameras usually cost a whole lot of money(Canon 1Ds - $8000) and become obselete just as fast as computer equipment, this idea would give consumers and professionals ways to upgrade their camera's capabilities(i.e. to higher mega pixels) easially.
They couldn't fix my brakes, so they made my horn louder.
But wait! Where are the complete set of steak knives to come with it absolutely free?
