WiX Project Lead Interviewed On CPL Licensing
comforteagle writes "After Microsoft released WiX (Windows Installer XML) under the CPL I found it odd that so many interviews following were with almost everyone but the project lead. So, for your Friday enjoyment I've posted an interview with Rob Mensching, Wix Project lead, who sheds a little light on what's going on behind the scenes at the Shared Source Initiative from the ground." Mensching explains: "My bosses were not involved in the decision which license should be used for the Windows Installer XML toolset. I worked with members of the Shared Source Initiative team who understand the details of the various licenses available to share source code. They listened to my requirements and found that the CPL seemed most appropriate for the toolset."
You just can't, they fuck everything up.
Hope he enjoys unemployment. //Pingo

I just can't help but think that some of the shared source licenses, in particular the GSP, are a big mistake. Say some Muslim government gets this license, and then uses it to plan acts of cyberterror against the US?
It just seems pretty irresponsible of MS to offer this in this day and age. Perhaps if they somehow limited it to non-Muslims?

A Microsoft employee who can deliver that with a straight face obviously has little understanding of this 'trust' concept, at least none the rest of the world would recognise. Is 'trust' just the latest Redmond buzzword or something?
Did I just poke your eye out? Sorry that will not happen again please trust me. Did I just rape your mother? Sorry that wont happen again please trust me. Did I just suffocate your first born? Sorry, this time I really mean it. Please trust me.
And blinded by hate, don't forget that.
But then, these are the same people who want to maintain copyright control of their own code (GPL) and steal anythign else they feel like they want (Napster, DeCSS and so on).
