Now we've truly heard it all. Rising gas prices are the latest John Kerry [related, bio] campaign theme, so naturally the senator was asked this week about his personal vehicle usage.

Kerry insisted, ``I don't own an SUV.''

When pressed about a Chevrolet Suburban, the mother of all SUVs, kept at the Heinz Kerry abode in Idaho, Kerry said: ``The family has it. I don't have it.''

Kerry has now closed the distance between nuance and flat-out deception.

And that's without mentioning the other gas-guzzlers this candidate and his family enjoy, all the while posturing about reducing the nation's dependence on foreign oil and fuel efficiency.

At last count, there were eight ``family'' cars and SUVs, including the 1995 Suburban (15 mpg highway, 12 mpg city), a 1993 Land Rover Defender (12 mpg highway, 10 mpg city), a 1989 Jeep Cherokee (20 mpg highway, 16 mpg city), a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee (20 mpg highway, 15 mpg city), a 2001 Audi Allroad (21 mpg highway, 15 mpg city), a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser (25 mpg highway, 20 mpg city), a 1985 Dodge 600 Convertible (26 mpg highway, 23 mpg city), and a 2002 Chrysler 300M (26 mpg highway, 18 mpg city). Kerry, however, only owns up to the latter two.

Then there's the 2002 Harley Davidson (his), two powerboats (one his, one hers), a power inflatable 2001 Novurania (his), and a Gulfstream II private jet (hers).

President Kerry would have to open his own pipeline in Saudi Arabia just to meet family fuel demand.

Yet there he was yammering on to reporters Thursday about making a hybrid (powered by gas and electricity) his ``campaign car.''

It's probably not politically correct to refer to the senator as the head of the Heinz Kerry family.

But last we checked, he is a part of it, no?Kerry's prevarication is trivial in the context of terrorism, the war in Iraq, the economy and all the serious issues this country - and its next president - will confront.

But if voters can't trust John Kerry to play it straight on the little things, how can they trust him on the big things?

      Funny you should ask that.

I've been on Slashdot for five years already. Before I came here, I found all sorts of homosexual activity disgusting. Now, after all these years I chuckle at nero-online.org pics, goatse-pics and rampant gay jokes we see here every day.

Seeing a man's cock in another man's mouth doesn't disgust me anymore. To the contrary, it evokes strange and somewhat disturbing urges in me.

      So escape while you can!

    So what's your point?

You'd rather see GWB win and have this country slide into a corporate sponsored christian theocracy?

The midwest is already full of well-armed christian fanatics who would gladly accept the task of "winning this country back to the christ" if given approval by the commander-in-chief.

The way I see the future:

A civil war fought between the split units of US military in alliance with various nutcase militia types (nazis, apocalyptic christians and racial tribes). Maybe it will all be a split between different branches: executive, judicial and legislative.

Maybe it's just that after 10-15 years on the net I just can't get off on soft-shit porn anymore... my latest interest is real electrical (cattle-prods, electrodes on balls and so on) femdom S&M. Damn hard to find.

The cost of a modified linux box is definitely higher, both in assembling the machine, and the time investment to get it running properly. The ease of use is no different with MythTV, as long as the box doesn't break down.

The other thing you're missing though, is the linux box has several definite advantages.

You can capture video and replay video at 720x480 with a PVR-350 instead of 480x480 like normal Tivos. I can't tell the difference between live and recorded TV on my box. Automatic commerical skipping. Myth skips commercials completely automagically when playing recordings. You can play, rip and burn DVD's if you put a DVD-R in the box. Snes, genesis and MAME emulators. I use a playstation to USB adapter and play all my old games on a playstation pad in front of the TV. It's extensible. If I wanted to, I could install an HDTV card in the box, www.pchdtv.org. No need for a new tivo. Upgrade to a bigger hard drive whenever I want, with no hacking to get the tivo software to recognize it. No subscription cost. XMLTV downloads your TV listings for free.

And after all of that, you still have a linux server. Use it for a router, web server, (mine is both), whatever.

I love my myth linux box.
