Software for Membership Tracking and Inventory?
ZeLonewolf asks: "I'm a consultant to a customer who owns two franchises of a fitness gym. The computers they use to keep track of members and inventory run DOS programs written in the early 90's by a company that has long since gone out of business. My customer needs an upgrade badly. Replacement software to keep track of members and handle check-in and membership expirations, as well as inventory and point-of-sale data, costs $5,000 and up, so a free software solution is desirable. Does GnuCash do the job? Have Slashdot readers successfully set a small business up with Free/Open Software? What software have you had success with?"

P.S. FYI, I went looking for Yuri yesterday, to make him come and fix the MANY problems he created in installing XP Pro. He wasn't there so I complained to Merlene about Yuri's lousy work and asked her if anyone else could help me. She said that I could ask Steve to sort out the problems. I'll do that tomorrow. After making me wait 10 days for the installation, Yuri should have just stayed out of it. I'm sure you would have done the upgrade much better, with no problems. That #@%^*#!* jerk Yuri installed the Symantec Fax as my default printer, deleted my log-on but gave himself a log-on, messed up some of the defaults I had set in Word, which he shouldn't have touched, and completely messed up my Start screen. Also, he's done something strange to my Internet connection.
