University Capitulates, Switches Off Spam Filters
Heraklit writes "As reported on German news site Heise, the system administrators of the Technical University of Braunschweig have temporarily given up the fight against spam. Because of the legal obligation to deliver all mail and of the delay time exceeding critical 5 days(!), they decided to switch off all filter mechanisms. Before, the 20 servers dedicated to processing e-mail alone had been breaking down under a load of 100000 unprocessed mail messages, ca. 98% of which had been spam or viruses. ... A similar e-mail jam occurred recently at the IT central of the German Federal Government.
Is this the beginning of the end of e-mail?" (The Fish may be useful.)

Don't you see? We stand to lose everything!
I am from germany, i dont have the time atm to read up 1183 posts so i just say what i want to.
That what people call spam at the governments server some days ago wasnt spam, or at leats not in the same way as it may has been at the university of braunschweig.
As some of you know, or not, we had recently some election of our new "Bundespräsident". Left active groups and other movements against the ridiculous policy of our government took this election serious and wrote mails to all of the "votes-man", because the "Bundespräs." isnt elected by the people of our country, its a election of around 1000 fat old stupid politicions from all over the country, and even a fucking old Nazi from west germany could vote!!!. This and some other facts where written down, taken together with information about Mr Köhler und written to all "vote's-men". Anyway, that was mainly the reason for the break down of that server (in my opinion a bad set up).
I really would apprechiate if you guys inform yourself better about whats going on instead of just writing guesses as facts.
