Fusion Plasma Plant in The Future
NightWulf writes "The BBC reports that Europe and Japan are currently looking to host a new JET power plant. This new plant creates plasma, which is akin to creating a star on Earth. Interesting to note that 1kg of fusion fuel would produce the same amount of energy as 10,000,000kg of fossil fuels."
But whats the possible damage if one of these plants pulls a Chernobyl on us?
Your CPU is not doing anything else, at least do something.
umm, no, they don't.
I am the Alpha and the Omega-3
So the moon is made out of Hydrogen and Helium now?
Let's go Hurricanes!!! 2006 Stanley Cup Champions!!!
The last place they should put the thing is France. I mean, you know it will just get destroyed when someone gets bored and invades again.
Besides, Japan has a much better scientific infrastructure for a project like this to begin with.
And especially worse if they build it like they do their airports!
Hmmm.
Billions have been dumped into the fusion shithole.
Re-directing that money towards renewables would do a lot more good, faster, then shitting it away into yet another fusion scheme. Get solar panels to 90% efficiency and we won't need no stinking fusion plants.
Nothing like a "meltdown" can occur in modern fission reactors either, but that doesn't stop fools from pontificating on the subject.
This could be a useful technology, please, please, please, nobody tell the christians about it.
sure i do...but it doesn't stop me from using it as an entry point for karma whoring. I make a few hand-waving motions and pretend to know what I'm talking about and i get a few +1's instantly. I didn't even have to make a citation reference to real information about fusion either.
I think you for making it easy for me to do a little karma matainance.

OMG! Stop the press! Fusion power! In the future!
I'm still waiting that Perpetual Motion machine.
At least it got obvious secondary uses, if it's primary doesn't work out.

How could they possibly claim that the Tsar Bomba was the biggest bomb ever when it only weigs in at 100 megatons? What about the nukes that America has? The Plutonium and Netronium bombs are supposed to be more on the order of a billion kilotons. My dad told me once that if we just used one Neutronium bomb, we might actually be able to split the Earth in half. So I really don't get what this web site is claiming. A measly 100 Megaton bomb would only destroy and area like California.
