Linux Today Founder Calls for Boycott of Linux Today
dave writes "I founded and managed Linux Today in 1998, bringing it up from nothing into the most powerful and large Linux news website in the world, in less than a year. I am now calling on the Linux community to boycott my creation until its current owners stop accepting money from Microsoft to publish blatantly anti-Linux/pro-Microsoft ads."
glad I don't have to deal with this.
Hay guys boycott mcdonalds because I worked there once and now they've changed the menu.
Offtopic? Fucking crackhead moderators don't recognize irony?
Would you want to support a pro-life site that had advertisements for Planned Parenthood? How about a cancer victim support site with cigarette ads?
Oddly, Planned Parent hood in many areas are run by pro-lifers who want to guide women away form abortion.

Thank you and have a nice evening.

You are not interested in "money flowing in the other direction" because it's good for the Open Source Jihad, you're interested because part of it eventually lands in your pocket.
Rob Malda has said time and again in posts and IRC chats that he has little respect for the people who use and contribute to his creation. I've never for a second believed that he (or you) are much for open source or free software as an ideology.
Slashbork these days is little more than an anti-Microsoft flame fest. OSDN is a for-profit corporation that funds and operates a website that is dedicated to attacking a competitor; day in and day out. They closed up the SourceForge code to nary a peep from "the community". It is a matter of record that they use outsorcing as a sales strategy. They are hardly poster boys for the open source movement. Can you imagine what would be your readership's reaction if Microsoft funded an anti-open source website? Oh, the humanity! Yet OSDN gets away with it here, and in NewsForge, where roblimo writes his little conspiracy theories every week to the delight of thousands of zealots everywhere.
When exactly are you going to run a few free adverts for open source projects so they can get a few eyes? Noooo, that would mean cutting into the revenue stream that Microsoft so graciously provides. You should have stuck with the Google Ad-sense banners, which Microsoft does not use and are much less disruptive.
These Microsoft ads (on an .org TLD, of all things), along with your ever-enlightening editorial quips appended to the "M$" flame-of-the-day are, unfortunately, part of this website's influence. You haven't finished understanding that, and I suppose you never will.
Go ahead and bitchslap my "karma", but the ironies are just too great. FUD always flows both ways.
.
* "You" means the people who run Bashdork, with the possible exception of Cliff.
Spoken like a true hipocrite.
People like you really make me laugh. You'll come on here, taking advantage of this 'evil' site that makes money 'bashing MS' and post nearly a comment a day, on average (your posting history doesn't lie after all).
You'll gladly throw mud at the site, the site admins, the other people who come here, yet you're perfectly happy to continue to surf the site. I should add, a site that you don't pay for.
Remember, the freedom door swings both ways. Free market forces mean that the Slashbot hordes need a lot of bandwidth. Bandwidth takes money. Money means either advertising or donations. Now, I don't see you lining up to line the admin's pockets with donations. Free speech means that anyone who wants in on those ads can get in, that just so happens to include Microsoft.
And if you think that there are no 'free advertisements' on here, you're a farking moran. Every time a small FOSS project that happens to tickle one of the admin's fancies gets submitted, it makes it to the front page. There's no finer free advertising. First it's people complaining about all the 'plugs' now it's people complaining that there are no free ads? What. Ever.
It's not really an issue of integrity
That's because you don't have any. People like you would rather live in slavery than die free.
You dumb fuck! I am tired of you Linux hippies crying about Mircosoft and their ways. Mircosoft is a business that makes money... WELL OMFG WHAT A TRAVESTY! If you want everything to be shared (i.e. open source code) than go move to China where everyone shares everything.
While Linux is, without question, secure, reliable, etc, it will never succeed! There will never be a great Linux revolution where Mircosoft is beat, and it is because of the type of people behind Linux. God forbid they spend a cent on software! Why do that when they can punch away for hours on Debian, only to realize that they are doing nothing at all.
Linux is great, the people who support it, such as the cockmaster timothy or that Bitch cmdrtaco, are dickheads!
