Microsoft's EU Appeal is Ready

psic writes "According to techworld, Microsoft plans on lodging its official appeal to the European Commission concerning the EC's decision to fine the software giant 497.2 million euros, as well as forcing them to open up part of the code of Windows, "so other products could interoperate with it better". It's taken Microsoft a couple of months, but their appeal is ready. One interesting thing is the fact that an appeal will take at least three years to conclude. But the decision of the EC might just come into effect very soon, regardless of Microsoft's appeal."

OK I am an idiot when it comes to C++ and I have a final exam in an introductory programming class in less than an hour, and I lent my textbook to a friend and can't look this up.

Could one of you uber-programmers please explain linked lists to me?

A linked list is simply a dynamic array contained in a class. It has at least 2 private variables: A pointer to the head of the list, and a pointer to the next item in the list.

Sorry you won't find any help here. Unless you can find someway to explain how it is Microsoft's fault.

A linked list is a data structure that contains links (for example pointers, handles, references, indexes, monikers) arranged with data items in a list (a linear chain of connections, rather than a tree). For example:

      1. Ask question about linked lists. Goto 5.
      2. ???. Goto 4.
      3. Submit answer to professor. Goto 2.
      4. Profit!
      5. Get reply about linked lists. Goto 3.

The "goto" items are the links. The numbers at the beginning are the anchors for the links (addresses, indexes or monikers). The instructions in each line are the data for each node.

I've given up submitting things to slashdot.... one of two things use to happen -- I'd either submit a story that would be submitted later, or I'd submit a story that never gets linked in -- but in either case, my submission was always not accepted (or was rejected?) ...

    whatever.
