Microsoft Patents The Task List
theodp writes "'Better not get too fancy with your grocery list, now that Microsoft has patented a glorified form of the to-do list.' Issued Tuesday, the patent covers the use of a 'task list' generated from 'TODO' comments in source code."

Ever asked why no one in Germany resisted Hitler?
Because he was cool. He fought in WW1 and all.
They didn't believe the thing about Auschwitz even if they saw it afterwards.
Naah, they didn't care. They just thought "yeah, it's bad and shit, can we go now, I think I left something on the stove."

Bullshit. Grow the fuck up. Nearly all of the patents that Microsoft files and is awarded are defensive. They patent stuff like TODO lists because a lot of companies *HAVE* sued Microsoft over really trivial shit. Witness the stupid patents over embedded controls (ActiveX, Java applets), HTTP links, etc.
You have no reason to complain about this unless Microsoft files a suit using this patent. Which they won't -- Microsoft has THOUSANDS of patents. The vast, vast majority of these are used DEFENSIVELY.
Linux weenies are suckers for baseless paranoia like this.
