Yuji Naka Talks Sonic, GTA, Emulators

Thanks to The Next Level for its newly published interview with Sega's head of Sonic Team, Yuji Naka. Naka discusses the games that impressed him most in 2003 ("probably GTA3 in the West and Shin Sangoku Musou [Koei's Dynasty Warriors series] in Asia"), his programming of a not-intended-for-release NES emulator for the Genesis/Megadrive ("I did it primarily for [private] study purposes. It ran things like Dr. Mario, although it did not work perfectly, actually."), and the whereabouts of the Sonic-sponsored Williams Formula 1 racing car from the '90s ("It's supposed to be in our offices or warehouses somewhere. We just can't seem to locate it anymore; we don't know where we put it!")

The Sonic X English dub sucks. Both organizations that have made fansubs up to this point, WolfPackProductions and Team Artail have not turned out any episode past 11. Goddamnit.

And the back-in-the-day ABC series still was more dramatic and had more potential. Oh well, I should be happy with what I have now.

A group known as Bsub has subtitled more episodes in the past 6 months than both of those groups ever did. They've subbed episodes 12 through 39, and the final epsiode, 52. The US has only shown up to Episode 26, so they're ahead by a good amount.

Unfortunately, the Bsub's only seem to be available from one place, a bittorrent tracker.

OK, so that's what those Bsubs are on bt.s0nicfreak.com. Which is mysteriously down right now.

I guess I wasn't curious enough to see what they were.

Arrgh! I passed on picking 3 & 4 of these up because they got panned in the reviews I read. Is this another Eastern tastes / Western tastes thing?
