Meshcube: A New Mesh-Routing Wireless Device

jazzgroove writes "The Meshcube is a new wireless mesh routing device based on open source technologies. It's quite feature rich with support for VPN and IPSEC which come from the meshcube distribution. Apparently you can buy the device as a kit and build it yourself or buy it pre-built.     It's an access point that can be joined with other access points to form a "Mesh". So for example you can put a bunch of them in a town and share one or two internet connections to people who dont have such a connection. Also useful for networking over distances that one single AP wouldn't cover (by chaining them together through the airwaves).

    This has been done. OLSR(http://www.olsr.org) packages are avalible for OpenWrt(http://openwrt.ksilebo.net)
