Will LOTR:ROTK Extended Edition Hit Cinemas?

yootje writes "Two articles today on TheOneRing.net about rumours that the extended edition from The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King will come in theaters before the release on DVD. The first article can be found here, the second one here. Both come from people who work in a cinema themselves, one in the UK and one in Denmark."

It all started with Star Wars Special Edition and now hell is breaking loose. Whenever something is selling just a bit they don't release a sequel nomore, nohooo, they bring back the movie with 2 more minutes, or even more ugly CGI.

I really enjoyed the LOTR trilogy, but this is all getting out of hand. I know, nobody forces me into a cinema (yet) but it's no better with (special, extended, final, definitive, directors cut, redux, whatever) DVD editions!
It's just too much these days.

Relax! It's just a movie. What's wrong with making a few million dollars when it's in cinema and get back to work on some ORIGINAL creative vision?

Why do they have to flog the dead horse until it smells? Harry Potter, what have you? ;-/

Having three seperate movies kind of irked me anyway; I mean one realllly only needed to see the last movie. The first two movies were okay, but I don't like paying to go see a movie without an ending, that's a cop-out, especially when I have to wait a year or more for the next one. Their whole let's milk the hell out of this series mantra isn't something that's admirable.

I, for one, am not going to spend $20 on movie tickets to go see the same movie extended a tad bit. But, alas, i'm sure the die-hard people will, and that's why they do it. I didn't really like the trilogy anyway, which might make me a little biased.

  3. More nerds in line! by TheOtherAgentM · · Score: 0, Flamebait

We can see more nerds line up in front of theaters all over the world! Then after it hit theaters, New Line can release a new DVD with scenes from outside the theaters of the last theater release. That's got to be another 2 discs or so, and that's another $50 New Line can take out of the pockets of nerds everywhere.
