Mozilla Foundation Now IRS 501(c)(3) Approved

jesus_X writes "We at MozillaNews have discovered that the Mozilla Foundation is now officially 501(c)(3) approved by the IRS, meaning you can now deduct donations made directly to Mozilla.org from your income tax returns. This is separate from, and obviates the Open Source Applications Foundation donation method mentioned in August on MozillaZine."

Mozilla thus becomes a sock-puppet for IBM and Sun. What could've been part of their tax filings and US's tax pile will now go to Mozilla... Money that could've been used to build highways or ships or fund basic research will now reinvent a browser. And the rest of the world will fucking freeload on American money. Great.

Over the way, it'll also land the Opera developers out on their butts. Maybe they should consider a "charity" button on their site soon?

Right, keep fooling yourself that Mozilla is a more worthy cause than giving your money to starving kids or people who need medicine in third world countries. May the cries of the suffering haunt you every time you fire up Moz to look for some porn to jack off to.

Open source cost goverment tax money. Instead of collecting money on software sales, it has to give deductions on donations to the said software company!
