Apple, Motorola Plan An iTunes-Friendly Phone
PabloJones writes "Apple and Motorola have come together to create a new mp3-enabled cell phone, according to this Reuters article. It says that the device will be capable of storing about 12 songs, and will be fully integrated with iTunes. Perhaps this is a beginning of a new relationship between the two companies, after the PowerPC problems between the two in recent years."

Assumption: iTunes for mobile music player depends on QuickTime to work, like iTunes for Mac and Windows (unlike iPod OS).
This is brilliant. I've always said that iTunes was a trojan horse and the payload was QuickTime. It's not a trojan to get people to switch, it's to make QuickTime the basis of every multimedia.
Consider this: QuickTime was brilliant and way ahead of its time, but it failed to compete on desktop with MS and Real apps. However, since iTunes for Windows was introduced, its marketshare started to catch up. On the portable front, there's QuickTime for phones, but it has not catched on in a big way. I think this iTunes for mobile music player is going to put QuickTime for phones on the map.
