DVD-Watching Driver Charged with Murder

joke-boy writes "CNN reports that a driver in Alaska is being charged with second-degree murder for allegedly causing a fatality accident by driving while watching the movie 'Road Trip' in an in-dash DVD player. The driver contends he was just listening to music. Alaska has no laws prohibiting drivers from watching DVDs, although many other states do."

a man isn't paying attention to the road and kills someone, and all that slashdot says is "from the now-he'll-never-find-out-how-it-ends dept."
    how disgustingly insensitive.
i put this in the same catagory as driving while talking on a cell phone, which i put in the same category as driving while intoxicated.
when you get behind the wheel, you have the responsibility to the rest of mankind to give it your full attention.

"What they should do with drunk drivers is take away their regular liscense and give them a motorcycle-only liscense."

What a load of crap. They could still kill plenty of people on a motorcycle. Just because they would cause less damage doesn't give them any reason to give them a motorcycle license. They still killed two people due to there extreme negligence. Watching a DVD while driving is pretty much as negligent as you could be. Two people lost there lives due to his neglect and he should be punished as such.
