What Will It Take For eBook Adoption?
zmcnulty writes "Gizmodo has a new weekly feature that appears to be off to a great start: their first 'Feature Creep' writeup (by Sanford May) is an excellent overview of some of the obstacles standing in the way of adoption of eBooks, and more importantly, a handheld device that supports them. We've probably all heard of the Sony Librie's lukewarm reception, but if you're not familiar with the somewhat stunted eBook market, this is an excellent essay to get you on your way."
"That's nice. I want a new BMW."
So you go through all that trouble to say an ebook is not a physical thing, and then you cap it off by comparing it to a BMW.
Well, he has first sale rights to his books now. If the publisher is taking away first sale rights, what is he giving back to the customer? Nothing. They want all the rights, and essentially want to charge the customers more.
Then people like you sit around and say "I wonder why ebooks aren't taking off. I know! The DRM isn't good enough!". Cripes.
BTW, I own a BMW. I can tell you'll never have one. So here's a little tip. The cars are called BIMMERS. The motorcyles are called BEEMERS. if you can keep that straight, maybe you call fool someone at your next "loser" party that you attend.
