Amateurs Pushing the Dreamcast's Boundaries

Wraggster writes "The Sega Dreamcast console, which died an early commercial death, has recently seen some amazing new projects mainly aimed at emulation. Recently, a coder named Bluecrab released a port of the Saturn emulator called Yabause for the Dreamcast. Also, GPF (Troy Davis) has ported the excellent Visual Boy Advance (Game Boy Advance Emulator) to the Dreamcast. Finally, yesterday it was announced that Nincest (Nintendo 64 Emulator), an early N64 emulator that played demos only, has also been ported to the Dreamcast. All the projects are somewhat slow, but the achievement of the work is not to be discounted. Who says the Dreamcast is dead?"

What's sad is, despite the Dreamcast clown with mod points, the Dreamcast was dead before it hit the shelves.

I remember listening to the president of the large game company I was working at answer a question at a company meeting about the Dreamcast before it shipped. He said we weren't going to waste resources on a deadend product.

And yet some people still went out and bought them? Clueless.

...but when the the best a console system has to offer is games from other consoles, that system is more than definitely dead.

A $15 dollar blowjob from a skanky transvestite whore would probably make you happier than a fucking Dreamcast. Although you would have to probably drive farther than EB and you would probably also get a variety of nasty STDs.

But at least you wouldn't be known as that dork with the Dreamcast...

Yeah, i had a 3.0GHz computer with plenty of sparkling accessories, but when I found out that my Dreamcast could do everything my new computer could only a lot slower for the measly price of $30 I nearly flipped my lid!! Now I use my Dreamcast for everything. You should see the looks I get when I'm walking it!!

    Yeah, whatever inflates your penis.

Poor management by Sega killed the Dreamcast. Your American company, unless it was EA - which is very likely considering your arrogance, was inconsequential to its demise.

They just might not be able to play them.

Yeah, it is sort of ironic to see people supporting a system for it's suicidal lack of security.

Who the fuck cares what the real reasons for the death of that piece of roadkill on the great console highway?

What is sad is the dopes who still went out and bought that very same electronic corpse...

The major difference being the diversity of hardware and software choices for the personal computer. It is the modular nature of personal computers that is so attractive to me, and I'm sure that many people feel the same. The Dreamcast can only ever be classified as a hobby.

Take the cock out of your mouth when you post. It might help you focus on reality instead of your delusional little world where the name of a codec affects how it performs. And obviously the DC has a user base, or there wouldn't be all these projects for it. Who do you think fucking programs these things? Maybe it's the userbase?? Maybe??

When a system's main use is to emulate other systems, that's when you know it really has died and gone to heaven.

I guess the PC and Xbox are dead then. Thanks for the heads up. I had no idea.
