PostgreSQL Wins LJ Editor's Choice Award

Quickfoot writes "PostgreSQL has won the LJ Editor's choice award for database servers the second year in a row and three times total (2000, 2003 and 2004). With the upcoming features in version 8.0 PostgreSQL is posed to do even better in 2005."

    I think there's at least 2 ways to solve your second problem today: 1) Create an appropriate view that has a column defined by a subquery that contains the union of the two target columns, and 2) Assign a check constraint that makes the makes sure the new value is in the subquery of the union of the two target columns.

    I'm not a guru, those are just guesses.

    What's with the icon for Databases? A wheelbarrow (a very nicely rendered wheelbarrow though).

    Surely a filing cabinet would have been a more intuitive choice.

    And a stapler as the IT icon? what's going on with /. icons?!
