Florida Ruling May Lead To E-voting Paper Trail

dorkus123 points out this Palm Beach Post story which begins "An administrative law judge over-ruled an administrative decision Friday that the 15 counties that use touch-screen voting systems must be able to perform manual recounts in extremely close elections." Prior to this, counties using touch-screen voting were exempt from a requirement requiring that certified voting machines be amenable to manual recounts. wierzpio adds a link to the AP's similar story.

    The counts were completed by the news hungry press and the results didn't jive with a 'stolen' election so they didn't make the front page.

    Besides, the electors could have voted opposite to the popular vote, had the margin been in favor of either candidate.

    I'll repeat that. The electors are not required to vote in accordance with the popular vote!!!

    Now that that's out of the way. All you antiwar guys need to read Sun Tsu and play a bit of Risk. You'll see that the point is not WMD so much as regional strategy, IRAQ pens in Iran and removes the regions largest standing army. Afghanistan pens in Pakistan and effectively neutralizes the major terorist training ground and lends some stability to the whole mess in Kashmir.

    Of course global power politics are much more complicated than the above so I don't feel it worth trying to elaborate when the usual retort is 'it's a war for oil'.

    Kerry's gang have proven themselves idiots when it comes to strategy and tactics. First Bush is 'dull and stupid', now he's 'really good at debate' and a trickster.
