Philadelphia Considers Free Citywide Wireless Access
The Associated Press is running an story about Philadelphia's city goverment seriously considering creating the world's largest hotspot.
"For about $10 million, city officials believe they can turn all 135 square miles of Philadelphia into the world's largest wireless Internet hot spot....the city would likely offer the service either for free, or at costs far lower than the $35 to $60 a month charged by commercial providers"
this is good and all, but when are we going to get to hear the next bubba sparxx single!?

Athletic Scholarships to universities make as much sense as academic scholarships to sports teams.
I LOVE all these free hotspots. I'm in a small city, and its great. But, c'mon! How long will the big businesses putting up with us getting something for free when they'll be able to get money for it? Sure, they can't beat the price, but I'm sure one way or another, it won't be free for long.

Disadvantage: you have to actually be in Philly to use it.
At least now the boyz in Center City can use Wifi to sell you crizzack - just go to B-Phlat.dyndns.org or whatever for continuously updated info on which street corner B-Phlat is diizealing at.
...as an ISP then they will as a Government. Wi-fi is cool, but it is the LAST thing this city needs to be spending money on. More and more people leave and more and more our currupt city government thinks spending money on boondoogles like wi-fi while they cut back on basic services. Just one more reason to leave.
