Broadband Envy: Fixing American Broadband

Ant writes "Broadband Reports has a story on broadband services among countries including United States falling behind: 'Bombarded with tales of South Koreans and Swedes watching high-definition soap-operas via 100Mbps connections, the media has apparently developed a nasty case of broadband envy. This Reuters article suggests the US has "missed the high speed revolution", while last week Business Week dubbed America a "broadband backwater".'"

... but it won't happen anytime soon.

There is an illusion of competition driving the telecom world in North America, but in fact there isn't much desire to compete like that.

I think it's a shame the governments are so apathetic, and populated by professional lazy ass morons.

Some may argue internet communication doesn't benefit everyone- so no tax money should go into it. Bullshit- take just the stolen money back from Bush's oil pals and we could have gigabit ethernet to every home, maybe even Alaska. /was I ranting? I didn't notice

Sorry, troll. You do not KNOW what liberty is.

Liberty is having the right to do anything you wish, as long as that does NOT infringe on anyone else's rights.

Label it whatever you wish. This is as the truest, simplest form of personal freedom there is. An abstraction or confusion can only be broken down under this logic.

    A few examples:

I can smoke pot. As long as it affects no one else (my family included).

I can shoot a gun. As long as I do not shoot anyone (or threaten to shoot anyone).

I can display a Swastika. As long as I do NOT practice war/genocide or any other vile action done by the Nazis.

I can drive an SUV. As long as I do not pollute someone else's health, whether it be the air/sound/earth.

I can associate with whom I wish. As long as I do not force someone to do so.

I can speak whatever I wish. If you try and claim that doing so causes "mental anguish" to you (and therefore, infringes your rights), wrong. Conversely, any claim of "mental anguish" by you would cause "mental anguish" in me. And neither accusations have any basis in truth.

I can not invade another country. I can not crash planes into buildings. I can not take another person's money for something they DO NOT wish for it to be spent on.

Try and find something that would not fit into this.

You are just a typical Statist. Go back to serving your government masters, troll.

You're a fuck. Actually, that's mild. You're the self-righteous and your own rant shows just how true that is.

No, it doesn't matter that you have absolutely no idea who the person who wrote that is, you're still going to act like you know it all and that your conclusions aren't just right, but you're somehow superior to him. And, for the record, you don't have any fucking clue who I am either, but I'm sure you're going to disparage me too despite that you'd be completey talking with your head in your ass (but that's appropriate, as they seem to be of the same material).

Oh, and also for the record, I'm not him nor am I a "redneck" and never have been.

And foreigners like you talk about the arrogance of Americans...

    Dumbass.
