Verizon Crippled Bluetooth Features in Motorola V710
djdoubles writes "Apparently Verizon Wireless has put firmware with crippled Bluetooth features in the new Motorola v710 phone. A lot of people have been anticipating a Bluetooth phone from Verizon, only to be disappointed by lack of OBEX. Verizon says they have no plan to add OBEX because it doesn't fit their business model--greedy bastards. PC Magazine doesn't have very nice things to say either. More discussion here."

Perhaps now would be a good time to mention this -- I have Sprint service, and, while I could be happier with the rate of dropped calls (which, in turn, have ALWAYS been credited to my account), I can't complain with the features they provide me.
My fiance and I share a plan between us, providing over 24 hours of talk time (anytime), unlimited nights and weekends (7-7, not 9-5 or anything silly like that), and a myriad of other features.
For example, pictures and videos are free to send and receive. Sprint offers a pay-for-use ringtone service, which is all well and good, but they also do not prevent you from downloading your own in QSP format (with converters freely available).
Also, with my phone, I can connect it to my laptop and use Sprint as my ISP. I don't transfer inordinate amounts of data, but I do use it quite frequently, and have never incurred any additional charges, or received any letters because of this usage.
For these features, everything included, sharing the minutes between two phones we pay around $100 US. Total.
Not bad, eh?
Just thought I'd throw that in... BTW, I was previously a customer of AT&T, Nextel, and Cingular (in that order) and would recommend Sprint over that trio.
Disclaimer: I am a geek, and a technophile. I do want more out of my phone than just voice service. Perhaps, with the exclusion of Cingular, the others do have equal or superior voice service, but none compare with the "added value" I receive from Sprint.

I think slashdot people know they are annoying most people, but somehow refuse to correct it. If one person posts a link to correct the problem near the start of the discussion, maybe it's even Ok.
