They Killed Ken!

kwings writes "SF Gate (via the AP) is reporting that your pal, Ken Jennings has been beaten after his 75th(!) game. I fully expect Mr. Trebek to hold a wake, or to keep calling the champion 'Ken' for the rest of the season. :) Since they're only up to airing game 41, it will be an interesting few months (or 34 shows)."

    Christ, people, I'm usually the first person to mock the tin foil hat brigade, but don't any of you guys know that the man is employed to write systems for the very quizzes that he's answering questions on? Could that possibly (rather than him being some hero genius to ambition-failing nerds everywhere) explain his winning streak? Isn't this a more reasonable explanation for his fantastic performance than "well, suddenly, this genius just appeared"? Or are dreams nicer to hold on to?

    What's up with this? I swear to Christ that every non-American has had to point out that they're not in the US. British shows play on US stations. Don't other countries allow US made TV shows on their TV systems?

    giving out spoilers on the main page is just bad m'kay!

    Going to a US website and whining about US-centrism is like going to Paris and whining for a McDonalds.
    Oh, and if you're ever in the US, be sure to check out google while you're here. You'll find that simply looking up the answer to your question is a much faster (and more polite) resolution. Maybe they have something similar where you live, so you don't have to play the "Ugly Euro" every time you visit.

    To understand why your anology is incorrect, please see my previous post. Slashdot.org is on international ground, not owned by the U.S.. So, it would be like walking into a resturant that is advertising food from all around the world (curries, stir fry, pasta, etc), only to find that they only serve food from the U.S. (steak(!?)).
