Galactic Conquest Mod 4.2 Released
TupperTrenine writes "Galactic Conquest, the Star Wars modification for Battlefield 1942, has just released their 4th edition of the mod. This continues their long history of updating a quality mod. Included are brand new vehicles like the Rebel T-3B Assault Tank, and the Imperial DTAP (Dual Trooper Arial Platform). Many textures and maps have been completely revamped, and there are 3 new maps: Dantooine, Lok, and Anchorhead."
Kudos to the devleopers for sticking with it, even in the face of forthcoming direct competition from LucasArts themselves. I suspect many others would have hung it up once a more or less offical version of their mod was released commercially.
With the 21st right around the corner, expect this to get Foxed shortly thereafter. Unfortunate, but understandable from Lucasarts POV.
Go here for teh [sic] funny.
How are they getting away with using the Star Wars setting? I'd think the Lucasarts lawyers (they wear the white armor right?)would be down on these folks pretty quickly. And if they do have permission, how? Isn't Lucasarts historically quite fanatic about maintaining control of all Star Wars continuity and setting issues?

No, Battlefront uses it's own engine not the BF1942 one. Check out the faq on http://www.starwarsbattlefront.com

I can NEVER find a server playing galactic conquest. I'm surprised they are still updating it even though it gets very few users.
Good quote, too many chars. Seriously, the slashdot 120 char limit sucks!
I played this a bit back... maybe 8 months ago... anyone know if they fixed the problem with landspeeders flipping wildly if they went airborune? Did anyone else even HAVE that problem?
Any sightings of a torrent out there? Please help those of us without Ultra-Fileplanet Deluxe!
That's not a soda... it's a caffeine delivery device!
I played this a ways back (about 6 months ago) and the art was *terrible.*
So terrible--in fact--that I never looked back.
I currently have no clever signature witicism to add here.
Dantooine, Lok and Anchorhead were in 4.0
Imperial DTAP (Dual Trooper Arial Platform)
Is that some sort of word processor for paired typists?
Cry a little more. I don't see you whining about playing a game based on WWII that trivializes their deaths by bringing it to the simplest of bombing runs in a Zero. Oh, that's right, I don't hear you whining about that because you like that game.
