Galactic Conquest Mod 4.2 Released

TupperTrenine writes "Galactic Conquest, the Star Wars modification for Battlefield 1942, has just released their 4th edition of the mod. This continues their long history of updating a quality mod. Included are brand new vehicles like the Rebel T-3B Assault Tank, and the Imperial DTAP (Dual Trooper Arial Platform). Many textures and maps have been completely revamped, and there are 3 new maps: Dantooine, Lok, and Anchorhead."

How are they getting away with using the Star Wars setting? I'd think the Lucasarts lawyers (they wear the white armor right?)would be down on these folks pretty quickly. And if they do have permission, how? Isn't Lucasarts historically quite fanatic about maintaining control of all Star Wars continuity and setting issues?

No, Battlefront uses it's own engine not the BF1942 one. Check out the faq on http://www.starwarsbattlefront.com

There are always tons of servers online. Make sure you have Galactic Conquest completely updated (You need to download RC4 before you download 4.2, and there is no update from a previous version to 4.0), and try using The All-Seeing Eye for finding your games. The 7 day notice might get annoying, but it is very very useful for finding BF1942+mod servers. Also, if a server is full, it will ping it every 3 seconds until there is a spot open, and then join it. Very useful :)

Here's a torrent to the 0.40 release if you haven't gotten it, because you need to download it first, the patch is only 2 megs.
