Sims 2 Blocked by CD Copying Software
bairy writes "EA says The Sims 2 will refuse to run if you have Nero, CloneCD or Roxio's EasyCD installed on the same PC. Although they link to a patch to bypass this, a lot of people are upset by this."

I wasn't going to buy the game before, and now that I hear this I have decided not to buy the game, yet one more time.

I have the nero suite installed on my machine.
I have Daemon-tools installed on my machine.
Sims2 runs just fine =)
Yeah! We all get a laugh, but we shouldn't have the expectation that our actions don't have an undesirable consequence. We practically encourage piracy around here, and when companies put protection around the product we get all indignant as though we were physically being beaten[2]. Gee I can't imagine how you guys will react when someone breaks into your house and takes stuff[1]. Maybe help the thief load up the getaway vehicle?
[1} Just watch someone miss the point here. Hint: It's about the feelings crimminal acts generate. You wouldn't like it, why should they?
[2] This is were the "it's my property argument shows up. Point noted. However encoraging crimminal actions do have a consequence, and that consequence isn't going to discrimminate between guilty and innocent. It can't. The only thing that can is if people stop encouraging piracy, and discourage others from doing so (Hmmm...I believe this is called...self discipline, and social pressure, respectively[3]). Positive actions have positive rewards. Negative actions don't (Karma).
[3] Something our society lacks all around.
