Laser Injures Delta Pilot's Eye

stormfish writes "The Washington Times is reporting that laser light from an unknown source injured a pilot's eye as he was flying a Boeing 737 from Dallas to Salt Lake City. A 5 milliwatt laser pointer is strong enough to damage a person's eye, and stronger laser's are not that hard to come by. Unfortunately, having pilots wear colored laser safety glasses would be impractical as that would make it impossible to interpret the colored symbols on paper maps and cockpit displays."

  7. On Correct Use of the Apostrophe by arodland · · Score: 1, Offtopic

We shall begin today by reviewing the correct use of the apostrophe, which is defined grammatically as ``the little thing that is hard to find when you put it inside quotation marks,'' as is shown in this example: ``'''.

Even top professional writers have trouble with apostrophes, as we see in this quotation from William Shakespeare:

    ``O Romeo, Romeo

``Your lookin' fine in them tight's.''

This is incorrect, of course: Shakespeare has used the word ``your'' as a participial infraction, which requires an apostrophe, as we see in this corrected version:

    ``O Romeo, Romeo

``You're buttock's are highly visible in them tight's.''

    1. Sour, like dried urine
Nope: urine would quickly drip out of a dog's sheath if there was any inside it.

    2. Funky, like human B.O.
    Nope: dogs do not sweat.

    3. Pungent, like smegma, toejam, or the guck that's behind your ears
Nope: it is possible for there to be a smegma-like substance, but usually not on well-groomed dogs. If there is any, it is easy to clean off.

    4. Clean, like licking your fingers after a shower
This is the right answer. A dog's penis is kept clean in a sheath, which is like an extended version of the foreskin. Think of it as a sort of underwear for dogs. A dog's dick is typically as clean as yours, if not moreso.

    5. Dusty, like the taste of dirt or sand
Nope: sand and dirt are irritants to the very sensitive skin of the dog's penis. A dog's penis is at least as sensitive as the glans of a guy. A dog would be wise in keeping his penis clean of debris.

    6. Kind of off-flavored, like mild doggy breath
Nope: well, a dog's penis can have a mild flavor, but it's more like the taste of skin (like your fingers) than dog breath.
