Katamari Damacy Sold Out

mausmalone writes "Katamari Damacy is completely sold out at most game retailers." The relatively unknown game is completely out of stock because retailers base their orders on preorders...which they didn't allow for this title.

Is this really what news on slashdot has come to? About a game like this, who gives a shit?

I want news, not some info on a gay japanses game.

    Subject.

What's up with all these wannabe hardcore gamers giving so much attention, particularly on slashdot, about this one damn game? It's like a trophy for people who want to say that they've seen, bought, or played it. People talk about it for pages on end.

It's simply another interesting Japanese game. I imported it months ago along with a half dozen other EQUALLY interesting games, and frankly, it's pathetic how many Americans are drooling over what seems to be the mere opportunity to own it. If Americans honestly gave damn+1 about innovative Japanese games, this one game would seem like merely the latest in a long legacy of cool Japanese stuff, which is exactly what it is. It's not an irregularity. It's typically ingenius.

Imagine that in Japan, there could be millions of people that are waiting for that one American game that gamers in their homeland will give a shit about. Then when it comes out and there's all this hullabaloo ("see, Americans can make cool gams too, this thing is quirky and fun!"), Americans don't know what the big deal is. That's exactly what's happened here, with roles reversed.

I don't care if it's the sheltered gaming lifestyles of all these wannabes that are hunting this game down or if it's just a matter of hype and limited exposure, it's damn annoying. Halohype-caliber annoying. And if it doesn't stop, I will personally splode the internet with the rage that currently boils within my loins.

    ARRRRRGH!
