FFXI / ISP Incompatibility Shuts Users Out

falcon5768 writes "Since Tuesday 9/28, an incompatibility between how Final Fantasy XI addresses a network connection with it's Playonline Viewer and Optimum Online's broadband service has blocked well over 1000 players out of the game. The only thing both companies do agree on is that the problem is a minor one. Numerous players have been told by Optimum Online that it is not a priority. Likewise Square Enix has no notice of the problem on their website, but an option on their call menu tells players they are aware of the problem and it is being worked on before hanging up.

Personally, I don't see how this story is a bad thing AT ALL.

Who the fuck would want to play a Final Fantasy game MMORPG? The regular FF games are bad enough. I don't even know how there have been so many of them. They are so linear, so impossible not to beat. They require no talent or difficulty. It's just one straight through clump of cinematic sequences with a few unimportant player-controlled battles in between the cinematics. DULL DULL DULL.

I played FF8 and have never touched FF before - most definitely not SINCE. What a flaming pile of crap. I don't understand for the life of me how people could think this is the greatest thing ever.

Then again, I don't understand why people collect those gay Magick cards and shit, either.
