An Anonymous Coward writes "The folks at Techspot have a very comprehensive Doom3 Tweak Guide up. It will take you through every option available in the game, the console, config files, graphics, audio and input settings."

      Why is it that to enjoy this game I feel like I have to do a bunch of work? Once I spent enough time tweaking the game to make it playable, I quickly found out the gameplay was about the same as watching a very slow movie with no dialog in it.

    Great Idea. Nice to have a comprehensive look at the purpose of all those game files. Normally you have to search several articles to get this type of information.

    Also I am sure it will you will gain some knowledge you can carry over to Mods and other games.

    no amount of tweaks can stop a game from sucking.

    Very cool - as editing Doom 3's config files can give tremendous results. For instance, setting the following gave me a noticable boost (enabling me to go from 800x600 in medium quality to 1024x768 on high quality without loosing speed):

    seta image_useCache "1"
    seta image_cacheMegs "256"
    seta image_cacheMinK "20480"
