A Review of Ubuntu Warty Release

JL writes "Recent news about Ubuntu had peaked my interest. Debian based, good development team, the Ubuntu philosophy and an active community. I lurked about on Freenode's #ubuntu channel and got a feel for the community. I found them to be helpful and a valuable asset to Ubuntu. I decided to give it a go on my laptop. "

My only complaint about Ubuntu is that it is GNOME-based.

I believe KDE is a better deal, both technically and philosophically.

    Anyway- go Ubuntu, go!

Because the attentive readers and visitors of Slashdot want to know more about KDE support rather than GNOME support. Needless to mention that over 2/3 of the present Linux Desktop Users (take care of Desktop Users here) use KDE and the last 1/3 is being split amongst GNOME and XFCE4 so you see why the question for KDE is legetimate it's simply one of the most prefered and used Desktop Environments. It's simply because the Users and Customers ask for it that's how the real life scenario looks like. Users and Customers simply asking for a specific product and this happened here. Modding a legetimate question up is just right.

Jeez! Ubuntu this Ubuntu that. I for one am f***ing tired of the distro-pimping going on lately. One article should be enough. Thanx to the submitter I've now got an aversion to the goddamn distro already! **** you very much.

Yet another useless distro I thought. Then I went to the Ubunto website and saw that this Jeff Waugh guy is working on it and this had proven my first worries. A poor society with a poor company and a poor person working on it. I had the chance to speak with that guy once and was embarrassed with his very slandering and bad attitude towards me and during conversation with other people.

I went to the #ubuntu channel on FreeNode some days ago due to some help that I was seeking (n00b). A guy called who had operator status there got very angry about my technical questions and banned me after some minutes.

My question now is whether this is the way how Ubuntu Linux wants to aquire new customers and users. With such an behavior no one will ever consider suggesting others to use or even try Ubuntu Linux.

I feel really sad about the behavior of OS people.
