Cable HDTV Not Ready For Primetime?

A reader writes: "Shelly Palmer head of the New York Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Advanced Media committee and the man that gave us the singing cats in the meow mix ads has posted a very entertaining article on his blog about finally getting a Scientific Atlanta SA8000HD High Definition, DVR-enabled cable boxes from Time Warner Cable in Manhattan, his adventures getting it to work, and its less than stellar performance."

What! No volume control? Nope, the digital audio output is not controllable from the cable remote. Sorry, if you want to control the volume, you'll have to settle for the analog audio outputs. Well, I didn't really want digital audio anyway ... so, a quick switch and ...

Anyone that spent that kind of money on a tv and those bose speakers, do they still use the TW remote. Throw me a bone, man. If you are going to lay $6000 on a tv, buy a professional remote and a skirt.

Have you ever watched football on Saturday or Sunday, HBO or Showtime? Those channels are awesome. I am sure TVLAND will be HDTV soon, just wait dude. There are problems with the box and the problems were stated by timewarner. HDTV is still not ready, but the problems this guy complains about have nothing to do with HDTV being ready, it has to do with TW box.

Please dont spread FUD and stop other people from investing. I mean I cannot watch Football unless it is HD, ESPNHD....I mean what is there really worth watching other than sports and HBOHD/ShowtimeHD shows.
