Retro Tunes On Your Dreamcast

wraggster writes "DCEvolution, a Dreamcast site that specializes in legal rom images and more specialist homebrew offerings has released the following: "Another classic music release from us! We offer you an updated image of Dream68 featuring over 1800 Amiga and AtariST songs in the sc68 format."

Dreamcasts are not like cart-based consoles. They're CD based, which means they have moving parts, which means they'll all fail after a few years of use.

You only have that much time with your Dreamcast. Do you want to spend that time together doing things you could do with any computer? Shouldn't you cherish the time you have left together and spend it doing what makes your Dreamcast special?

I guess you never had to experience the wonderful time of having to blow, slide, alcohol swab (repeat) nintendo games. I have a system at home were I have a one percent chance of getting the game to work the first 50 times of doing the insanely obnoxious routine.

moral of the story: all hardware, no matter what format, eventually dies.
And with that said, yes cheerish each and every day with your dreamcast. Just like you, it has a life span.

Sorry when I think music/remixes for video games that are truely GOOD. Only one thing comes to mind... http://www.ocremix.org

If you are a fan of ocremix, then you should check out the Tetris 2: Overclocked image that is also available from DC Evolution. It features quite a bit of music from ocremix, along with a fantastic Tetris clone that allows you to swap in your own CD or mp3 compilation while playing along.

I'm having a hard time thinking of a story with a lower risk of slashdotting the server than this one. Let's see, what would I be less likely to download than a disc imagine of Amiga and Atari songs for the DC? Maybe a rip of the new Strong Bad Sings...in Farsi! cd?

[Note to big videogame music fans: I'm just kidding, not trolling. Don't hurt me!]

Well, the demand is likely to be low, but it won't take many people downloading a full CD image to kill their bandwidth.

Sounds like a job for Bit Torrent to me ...

Great. Just when I was feeling outdated by only having a Genesis and a Dreamcast my nice new console gets the latest and greatest in... really dated music.

Oh, how cool this does *not* make me feel.

Its just an attempt by the dreamcast / emulator scene news-poster extraordinaire wraggster to get some publicity. I'd love to see the stats on how many stories he has posted to slashdot (both successful and failed ones!)

Anyhow kudos to the author(s) of this but did we really need the blurb about wraggster's site dcevolution!
