Detailed Empire Strikes Back DVD Change List

JSDopefish writes "The DVD news site DVDanswers.com is back with Part 2 (of 3) of the series by Chris Gould showing in detail the changes between some the various iterations of the Star Wars original trilogy movies. In Part 2, Chris covers The Empire Strikes Back, showing such important changes as the color of Han Solo's jacket before he's frozen in carbonite, as well as other things like the change in actor for the Emperor, and more on light saber colors. Chris has screen captures from the original, the 1997 remaster, and the 2004 DVD versions, plus some audio clips for you to check out. There is an existing Part 1 covering A New Hope, and a forthcoming Part 3 covering Return of the Jedi." Very detailed synopsis. Worth a read if... well, you're me.

    I hope so.

It's about time we dumped the lying, deceptive, secretive jerk who was asleep at the switch on 9/11 and who has lashed out completely inappropriately since then, destroying our credibility in the world, isolating us from our allies in the world whome we need to effectively fight global terror, who has taken the largest surplus in history and turned it into the largest deficit in history, who has divided us at home, who seeks to enshrine bigotry in the constitution, who has erased the environmental protections and let industry write their own laws, who harbors a traitor who outted an active CIA agent, and who got completely distracted form the real war on terror with his Iraq adventure and whose utter incompetence has us now bogged down in a quagmire there, leaving us less safe as a nation than before we went in.

As for your own little rant, Kerry has never 'excused' terrorists. And the 'global test' is simply this fact: before pre-emptively invading another country without any ally or UN support, we should be able to justify the action to everyone at home and abroad, with facts. I don't see how anyone with a brain can have a problem with that. As for 'hypocrite', that's beyond hypocritical of you. Republicans and the Bush Administration are far bigger hypocrites than Kerry could ever be. And Bush is a far bigger flip-flopper. At least when Kerry changes position, it's usually a thoughtful change of position based on new information.

Bush has been the worst president this country has ever had. He's turning us from a Republic into an Empire, from a democracy into a theocracy.

To keep this message on-subject, the parallels between the US and the old Republic of Star Wars are quite compelling. Just as the Old Republic slid into corruption and evil, to become the dreaded Empire, so too has the United States, under George W. Bush, slid from the most respected country into the most feared and resented. We've turned, as a country, towards the dark-side, with Abu Griahb and worse.

It's time to take would-be Emperor Bush and toss him out. That is, if he doesn't have the election fixed, what with his party hacks owning all the electronic voting machines and all.

  9. Editors: Please supply a mirror link! by Phong · · Score: 1, Offtopic
It would be good if the Slashdot editor posting a story would insert a (mirror) link in the original article for any site that might get slashdotted. The example link I just used makes use of the Coral NYU Distribution Network, which will mirror any site as long as you add ".nyud.net:8090" onto the end of the hostname (of course, the /. editor would also need to follow the link to get the site into the cache).

If the editors only want to add a mirror link for sites that actually need it, I'd suggest having each editor prepare the mirror link in advance, visit the Coral-mirrored version of the site (to get it into the cache), and then update the article with the mirror link if the site bogs down. (Unfortunately, the Powers That Be may be against this idea since they'd like to sell /. subscriptions, and having a site get slashdotted probably helps to sell more of them.)

As it stands currently, the Coral caching system can't access the slashdotted site any more than we can, but if everyone will try to access the site using the mirror instead of the main article's link, the slashdotted site should become available more quickly than if everyone continues to pound on the site directly.
