Titan's Alien Thunder

An anonymous reader writes "What is not being reported much about the fascinating Huygens descent to the surface of Saturn's largest moon, Titan, is its remarkable microphone. In the silence of space, the probe offers a platform for listening to alien thunder while watching the lightning strike on this alien world--the only moon with an atmosphere thicker than our terrestrial one. The probe detaches from Cassini on Christmas for its atmospheric entry on 14 January 2005. The landing target on Titan borders a bright-dark region thought to be an oil-rich shoreline. Huygens can float for a few hours while still broadcasting if it lands in a lake of oil."

    Love is a burning thing
And it makes a fiery ring
    Bound by wild desire
I fell into a ring of fire...

I fell into a burning ring of fire
    I went down...
    And the flames grew higher
    And it burn, burn, burns
    The ring of fire
    The ring of fire

The taste of love is sweet
    When hearts like ours meet
I fell for you like a child
Oh, But the fire went wild

I fell into a burning ring of fire
    I went down...

Com'mon mods, this is 500x less redundant than all those Halliburton jokes (though, yes, I too think Bush is a 'tard) and funny to boot. Although I think some of the responses missed the sarcasm of it...

Iran did not endorse Bush. Iran stated that they don't care who wins. Your story, like most other ones, were based on the original AP story which left out the most important quote of the whole interview to push the idea that Iran endorsed Bush. The AFP story includes the quote.

TEHRAN, Oct 19 (AFP) - It makes no real difference to Iran whether US President George W. Bush or Democrat contender John Kerry wins the presidential elections, a senior Iranian official said Tuesday.

"It makes no difference for us which of the two parties wins the elections," Iran's top national security official Hassan Rowhani said in an interview on state television.

Basically the Iranians were stating that while the republicans were more likely to push for military action/pressure against Iran, Democrats also have a history of being against Iran, so it doesn't matter to them who wins. It's a lose-lose situation.

What's even less reported is that this is actually recon for a pre-emptive invasion by the United States (and Poland), in the event this turns out to be true.
