Kamalot writes "JoyStiq is reporting that the new Nintendo DS pre-orders are outselling the new slimmed-down version of the PS2 in Japan as well as the Xbox. Outselling the Xbox is easy though. They sold less than 200 in Japan last month."

Why not allow people with mod points to rate an article as well as replies. That way I don't have to read -5 useless or redundant articles.
Now to keep this on topic I suppose I should add some quip about Microsoft in Japan. There isn't much of an article to comment on...

i'm not an american but do live there.
The general feeling in europe is one where individual americans are welcomed, but the USA as an entity is disliked.

Um, the Japanese love Americans. So do people in most other countries, which Americans would realize if they actually traveled abroad.
This has been very true. And a great reason why I can almost hear the good karma burning as George W moves internationally.
I myself, a foreigner, was, in the 80s, for one year a High School exchange student and, in the 90s, a post-graduate student in the US. I was the one who usually ran to defend the american point of view in discussions at home. But with George W essentially bombing the United Nations and going forward without any regard to what anyone may think (aka unilateralism, aka what I think matters, what y'all think doesn't) that became really, really hard to do. George W basically declared the end of the UN, and proclaimed the beginning of the rule of strongest, aka rule of the jungle.
So sad seeing that something that took so long to build (actually it took us since the second world war) could be put down by one despot.:-(

Agreed. People actually sighed when I told them I wasn't American when I was overseas.
To a certain extent Rich American's are richer than anyone else and poor American's are too poor to travel so they have to suck up.
Maybe that is what you were experiencing, as a backpacking tourist talking to other tourists, well they all dislike America. They want to hate you but your country isn't really powerful enough to merit hatred anymore, it just seems like the last gasp of caeser.
FP!
What the heck is "DS"?
fp who me? nah...
