Kerry Blows Red Sox Stats, Again, and Again

This week John Kerry twice messed up the Red Sox playoff scores, in one game proclaiming them to be ahead 10-9, in another 7-1. The Sox never had 10 runs in the first game (they went from 9 to 11 on Mark Bellhorn's two-run homer off the right field foul pole), and scored six in the second (see footballfansfortruth.us for more info). For those of you who are not Boston-area natives, you might not understand that Red Sox loyalty is far greater than political loyalty, and while this might not cause anyone to vote for Bush, it might make Kerry voters stay home. Worse, many Red Sox fans have vowed to see the Sox win a World Series before they die, so tens of thousands of Kerry voters could die before November 2. Of course, this won't affect Massachusetts, Vermont, or Rhode Island, and probably not Maine, but New Hampshire is a possibility.

  1. Bush lying by dan_sdot · · Score: -1, Flamebait

Everyone is disturbed by the fact that Bush lied. If he did, then we certainly have reason to be disturbed.
But why would the answer be to elect Kerry?
I am not a liar. However, sometimes, I am tempted to lie about big things.
Looking over the football fans for truth site, there are many things that are so tiny and insignificant things that Kerry lies about:
    - Knowing baseball scores.
    - Being 30 yards from Buckner in '86.
    - Running in the Boston Marathon.
If someone has no problem lying about the dumbest, smallest, most insignificant things like that, how do you think that he will not lie when it comes to the big things.
This man is as much a liar as Bush, if not more. If you want a demogogue, elect Kerry. If not, there are plenty of other good options out there.

  2. Gell-Mann Amnesia effect by sybert · · Score: -1, Flamebait

This is a classic case of the Gell-Mann Amnesia effect. You read a news story about your field of expertise and you notice that the story is completely innacurate, and then you read news stories in fields you don't know much about and assume that they are accurate.

The public knows when Kerry is bullshitting about the Red-Sox and other sports ("Lambert Field") because we know more about sports than Kerry. Slashdot knows when Kerry is bullshitting about technology (his support for the clipper chip, etc...) because we know more about technology than Kerry. The MSM is good at detecting when Kerry contradicts his own past statements (flip-flopping) because the MSM is proficient with Lexis-Nexis and other search tools. We don't detect when Kerry is bullshitting when he is talking about subjects that we don't know much about, like economics, military strategy, health-care, science, especially stem-cells (people will get up and walk), and everything else. You can check out any Kerry blog to see informed writers exposing all of his bullshit.
